In the nearly two weeks since a temporary cap stopped BP’s gusher at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, not much oil has been showing up on the surface of the water.

Scientists caution that doesn’t mean the crude is gone. There’s still a lot of it in the Gulf, though no one is sure quite how much or exactly where it is.

“You know it didn’t just disappear,” said Ernst Peebles, a biological oceanographer at the University of South Florida. “We expect that is has been dispersed pretty far by now.”

Jane Lubchenco, the head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, said government and independent scientists have been working hard to figure out where the oil might be, but don’t yet have numbers. Some is still washing up on beaches and in coastal wetlands, but not in the quantities it was a few weeks ago.

Scientists do know that more than 600 miles of coastline has been oiled in the nearly 100 days since the April 20 explosion of the offshore oil rig Deepwater Horizon.

They estimate that between 107 million gallons and 184 million gallons spewed into the Gulf before the cap stopped the flow July 15. The permanent solution, using a relief well to shoot in mud and cement, is still several weeks away.

So far, officials say they have recovered 34.6 million gallons of oily water using skimmer boats and burned about 11.1 million gallons off the sea surface.

So where’s the rest?

Scientists are worried that much of it has been trapped below the surface after more than 770,000 gallons of chemical dispersant were used to break up the oil a mile deep. They have found evidence of massive clouds of oil suspended in the water.

Not only did the Hornets reportedly turn them all away, Paul released a statement following yesterday’s meeting and said that he hopes to be in New Orleans “for many years to come.”

I hope you enjoy the Premier of “To My Life”. This song was written in 1984 and has finally become a reality to me.

I wrote this song on a greyhound bus on April 12th that year. I was working as a brakeman for Southern Pacific Railroad and our assignment was to catch a greyhound bus and travel to Carrizozo, New Mexico to bring back a train. As I traveled through a town called Ore Grande, NM, I saw a beam of sunlight fading behind the rocky mountains and it shined on me. I felt like I was being singled out and it felt like God was looking down on me.

That brief moment inspired me to write but I couldn’t put it down on paper because I didn’t have anything to write with, eventually I forgot about it. On the following day the exact same thing happened. It was just like the movie Groundhog Day except this time I had a pen and pad. A lady by the name of Kay Roberts recorded it and placed it on her album.

For 26 years it was stored in a suitcase until Pershing Wells encouraged me to find it and record it. Finding it was a miracle in itself, I felt it was another sign. At this time in my life this song has powerful meaning to me and I want to share it with everyone. Hope you enjoy it.

I wish to thank the following people that performed on this song:
Waylon Thibodeaux – Fiddle Player,
Pershing Wells – Lead guitarist/Producer,
Terry Chaisson – Back up Vocals.

In a recent study it was determined that it’s more than just appreciation apparently. What male celebrities do men want to be like and women want to be with?

According to a new survey, girls want a guy who looks like Johnny Depp and guys want to look like Brad Pitt.

But that’s just the face. Here are a few other desirable celebrity body parts.

The poll, conducted by My Protein,

found that a woman’s perfect guy would have Johnny Depp’s face,

David Beckham’s hair,

tennis ace Rafael Nadal’s arms,

and Ryan Reynold’s abs.

Men, on the other hand wish they had Brad Pitt’s face,

Gerard Butler’s hair,

Vin Diesel’s arms,

and Matthew McConaughey’s abs.

Louisiana knows how important it is to lend a helping hand to its neighbors when tragedy strikes. Our seafood industry and the wetlands are vital to the stability and security of this state. Louisiana provides 33% of the country’s seafood, making the industry a key component of the state’s economy. Ensuring a way for those who depend on the Gulf of Mexico waters to survive is not just the right thing to do, but a necessity for Louisiana’s future.

The coastal culture is part of Louisiana’s heritage and tradition and must be saved. LOUISIANA NEEDS YOUR HELP TODAY!

We are well over two months into the BP oil spill off the coast of our beautiful Waters. And still the oil free-flows from the ocean floor like a billowing cloud of smoke. And now BP officials say they are working to fix the leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico by 27 July, weeks before its publicly stated deadline.

The company is due to report second-quarter results that day. It hopes to provide more information on its liabilities from the oil spill to shareholders, as well as its initial findings on the causes of the disaster.

BP had previously stated that it hopes to have a fix in place by mid-August. It wants to make progress by 20 July, the day David Cameron is visiting the White House, the Wall Street Journal reported.

“In a perfect world with no interruptions, it’s possible to be ready to stop the well between 20 July and 27 July,” the head of BP’s Gulf Coast restoration unit, managing director Bob Dudley, told the Journal. He added that this “perfect case” is threatened by the hurricane season and is “unlikely”.

BP is drilling two relief wells through which it will pump material designed to seal the blown-out well.

Under intense pressure from the US government, the oil giant is preparing a number of backup plans in case its current efforts to contain the massive spill fail. These include connecting the well to pipelines in two nearby underwater gas and oil fields.

Later today the oil drilling industry is set to go head-to-head with the Obama administration in court over a moratorium on deep-ocean well drilling in the wake of the worst environmental disaster in US history. The government wants to reinstate the ban after it was overturned by federal judge Martin Feldman in Louisiana on 22 June.

Feldman ruled that the federal government’s six-month blanket moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico was unjustified because it assumed that all deepwater drilling was as dangerous as BP’s.
