The light oil sheen from the 2010 Gulf oil spill has been spotted as far west as the Timbalier Islands. This has forced the United States Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to extend both the commercial and recreational fishing ban in the Gulf of Mexico.

The CCBR serves the parishes of Terrebonne, Lafourche and Assumption. Through our monthly meetings we offer an open forum for service providers to meet, network, and partner in an effort to better serve our community.
The CCBR advocates for the rights of children and families, and brings the challenges and successes of the Bayou Region into the state spotlight.
The CCBR serves the community by providing referrals, supplying agency information and connecting volunteers to agencies.
The CCBR has brought in $590,000 in grants with another $500,000 pending.
The CCBR has served as the catalyst in partnering local agencies to bring research-based prevention programs to Boys & Girls Club, Dulac Community Center and Circle of H.O.P.E. in Thibodaux.

Oh Great! Another Ecoli outbreak! And this time it’s lettuce. And coming from a guy who eats salads three times a week, I am concerned!
Investigation into the outbreak of E. coli infections in the Columbus area continues. In addition to health officials from the Columbus Public Health department, investigators from the Ohio Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control are looking into what caused local illnesses.
On May 6, the Food and Drug Administration told local officials that cases in New York that were linked to Columbus cases resulted from consumption of contaminated romaine lettuce.
