Not much oil has been showing up on SURFACE.

Finally some promising news from the gulf. In the nearly two weeks since a temporary cap stopped BP’s gusher at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, not much oil has been showing up on the surface of the water.

Paul Doesn’t Ask for a Trade.

The New Orleans Hornets have had their much-anticipated sitdown with Chris Paul and, we’re sorry to inform the Knicks, he didn’t ask for a trade. There were rumors that Paul would ask for a trade on Monday which reportedly prompted calls from rival teams over the past week. But the calls were in vain. Not only did the Hornets reportedly turn them all away, Paul released a statement following yesterday’s meeting and said that he hopes to be in New Orleans “for many years to come.”

Please be advised that the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Goverment Office of Emergency Preparedness is currently monitoring conditions due to Tropical Storm Bonnie. Due to the possbility of flooding in low-lying areas of the parish due to storm surge, sand and sand bags will be available at the following locations on the morning of July 23, 2010.

As of 8 p.m., Bonnie was 395 miles southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River, moving northwest at 17 mph with sustained winds of 35 mph.

For now, the forecast calls for Bonnie to approach the North Gulf Coast late on Saturday or early on Sunday as a rather weak tropical storm with 45 mph winds.

Tropical storm warnings are in effect from Destin to Morgan City, La.

I wrote this song on a greyhound bus on April 12th that year. I was working as a brakeman for Southern Pacific Railroad and our assignment was to catch a greyhound bus and travel to Carrizozo, New Mexico to bring back a train.
